MONDAY APRIL 22, 2024 IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR THE PRIMARY.  ONLINE REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 4:00 PM LOCAL TIME.  MAILED REGISTRATIONS CAN BE POSTMARKED 04/22/2024 AND BE COUNTED.  REGISTRATIONS RETURNED TO THE CLERK'S OFFICE ACCEPTED BY 4.
2024 MAY PRIMARY CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Absentee & Early Voting

  • Saturday, April 6, 2024, the online mail-in request portal will open (45 days before the election).  (KRS 117.085 (1)(f)
  • Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:59 pm, the online mail-in absentee request portal will close (14 days before the election).  (KRS 117.085 (1)(f)
  • Tuesday, May 8, 2024, to Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a voter or their legally authorized agent may submit a notarized paper application for an absentee ballot because of a medical emergency (within 14 days or less of an election).  (KRS 117.077)
  • Wednesday, May 8, 2024, to Friday, May 10, 2024, and Monday May 13, 2024, to Wednesday May 15, 2024, Excused, In-Person Absentee Voting: qualified voters may make an application to cast an absentee ballot during normal business hours, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, during the 6 business days immediately preceding the Thursday of no-excuse in-person absentee voting period.  A VOTER MUST HAVE ONE OF THE DESIGNATED REASONS TO CAST A BALLOT DURING THIS PERIOD.  (KRS 117.076 (2). CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF DESIGNATED REASONS
  • Excused In-person Absentee Voting will take place at the CHRISTIAN COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE located at 511 S. MAIN ST.
  • Thursday, May 16, 2024, Friday May 17, 2024 & Saturday May 18, 2024, In-person NO-EXCUSE absentee voting will be conducted. In-person NO-Excuse voting will take place at the following 3 locations:  JAMES BRUCE CONVENTION CENTER LOCATED AT 303 CONFERENCE CENTER DR, THE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER LOCATED AT 1402 W. 7TH ST, and BOYS & GIRLS CLUB (WALNUT STREET CENTER) LOCATED AT 1600 S. WALNUT ST., between the hours of 8:00 am & 4:00 pm.

Election Day

General Election Day-November 7, 2023 (first Tuesday after First Monday in November)*

  • Polls will be open from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm*
  • County Board of Elections to be in session all day*
  • County Board of Elections to meet at County Clerk's Office at 8 am to count absentee ballots, but the absentee ballot results shall not be made public until after 6:00 pm*
  • Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by Clerk before 6:00 pm election night*

Information contained in an application for an absentee ballot shall not be made public until after the close of business hours on Election Day for which the application applies.  There is no prohibition to disclose at any time, upon request, the total number of applications for absentee ballots that have been filed.
